Nice zap, kind of reminds me of the little carts in moonraker, i think...one of the bond films :)
Hippies will be pleased it's solar powered :P
It needs to be solar powered because a conventional engine needs oxygen to operate. There wasn't a whole lot of oxygen in space last time I checked.

The engine? I hesitate to call it an engine. I prefer something like scripting framework. And right now I am fighting with Lua error handling (again :()...
